Another thing we found fun for the boys was to goto the website for our local fire department and download the pictures from their site (we have a volunteer department near us).  We printed out a little 'book' of all the engines and ladders and then when they went to 'fire station day' with the school they recognized them as being the local trucks.

We attended a bday party at the Cabin John Fire Station this weekend. It was amazing. The station was open to the kids, the climbed all over the trucks, the volunteers dressed in gear for them and gave demonstrations. Most people don't know this, but you really can just pop in a fire station to say hi and take a look at the trucks, they're happy to see the kids and show them around. [/quote]
