As I read it, all four of you are sitting down together for 30 minutes to eat? If so, Parent 1 could maybe get another 15 minutes of sleep if they only made breakfast while the kids dressed, then ate their breakfast in the kitchen while heating lunches. Parent 2 could sit down with the kids. I think the 30-minute-mornings people make full lunches the night before, grab a pre-made breakfast on the go, and have kids who don't need help getting dressed. They do as much as possible the night before, everyone's tasks happen in parallel, and there's no kitchen time at all. If your family can't manage all that, then you have to live with the current schedule, and make the most of that half-hour at the table together before you go your separate ways.
Yes, as I said earlier, I think we just move on and appreciate our breakfast-time together. We could manage the grabbing stuff and running out the door but I'm not sure it's worth the extra 30 minutes of sleep.
Does your whole family really sit and eat together for 30 min in the morning for breakfast? I have 3 kids and I'm a SAHM. DH is out the door before kids eat breakfast. I put a hot breakfast on the table and kids eat while I'm packing their lunches and snacks for the day. The whole process takes 30 min. No way am I sitting with them at the table for 30 min.
Yup, we all sit together for 30 minutes. Why, if you stay at home, is there no way you'd sit with your kids for 30 minutes? As I'm thinking about it more, we have very different conversations about at breakfast than we do at dinner. At breakfast we talk about things that are coming up, make plans, and are generally sillier. At dinner, it's more often reporting back on things that have happened during the day, etc...
This is such a stupid post, one of the worst I've read on here. You are asking how to make the mornings go quicker. Don't sit and eat breakfast for 30 min!!!! Don't shower in the morning. Sheesh.
wow
