Exclusive for DA. Ritchie was doing a good job of building the boys side before he left.
I think the St. James would have an interest in building out the boys side as well. Especially if long term plan is probably to bring everything to the facility.
The long term plan is not necessarily to bring everything to the facility. DA will likely have a presence as will locally developped teams in the Springfield area but FCV will still try an maintain a presence in Loudoun for the player pool.
Springfield is the right location for a boys feeder DA, regardless of club affiliation. It is a good compromise location for a lot of talent on the boys side.
FCV does not have a boys DA and likely will not get one.
Agreed. My point was a geographic one only, as the point itself made clear.
Considering Arlington and DC United it would not be a great location for another boys DA.
It would be in lieu of Arlington. Not proposing expansion.
Well Arlington has a boys DA and a much larger player pool than any FCV startup in Springfield. FCV does not have a large or prominent boys side as is and would not be granted a DA, especially in lieu of Arlington.
The Springfield area pool is split by at least 6 different Clubs. Arlington has a monopoly on the entire County which, if you reside in Arlington and don't like their style of play or club environment, really sucks.
Forget who has a current DA (and who has the player pool, which is absolutely irrelevant given the fact that most Arlington DA players are not from Arlington). That is not the point I was making. The point is the location, not the clubs in the location. The club teams are irrelevant to DAs. So a Springfield-centered DA could draw from Alexandria, Lee, Rose Hill, Springfield, Franconia, Burke, Annandale, Vienna, McLean, as well as Arlington. A lot of those other areas would certainly find it easier to take the beltway right to practice.
Stop trying to make this a thing. FCV will not get a boys DA. Their boys side is an afterthought and weak program overall.
You are so obtuse. I don't care about FCV or girls soccer. This is about something you don't get, so stop trying.
I understand that you are talking about boys soccer and the DA as it pertains to FCV. It is in the title of the thread. What you don't understand is the FCV boys program is considerably weak in comparison to other boys programs in the area. Loudoun AND McLean both lost DA status for their boys side and Arlington to this point still does not have a full DA. The boys side of DA is set up to funnel kids to the MLS DAs and therefor it is hard to get a full DA status when you are a MLS DA neighbor. Second, the boys side is cutting the younger ages loose in favor of only U13-U14 and older. Regardless of FCV's Springfield footprint the region is served by Arlington and DC United with DC United getting the best players over time. DC United sits atop the local boys DA pyramid and with US Soccer cutting out the younger age groups there simply is no reason for another boys DA in the area.
I don't think that's what he was saying at all, although that's what started this thread. He was saying objectively, Springfield is an ideal location to have a high level boys DA. As for DC United, they better count their lucky stars they ARE an MLS DA and have US Soccer to prop them up. Their DA program is very mediocre. Players only go out of a lack of options.
Springfield is not the ideal location. Arlington is the only DA program inside the beltway.
Yeah, I suspect DCU has always blocked Arlington so they can recruit from them. Until Loudoun dropped its partial DA for a full ECNL, I bet they had that issue as well.
DCU is still the top of the pyramid and is structured to be so by US Soccer. DCU does not need to recruit, the kids should be funneled to their DA. When Arlington does not have a full DA that is the intended purpose, to funnel their best to DCU.
