What percentage of D1 programs are fully funded.
One or two players may be fully funded the rest are partial scholarships that are divided up across the top players on the roster.
And most players get no money.
Starters get some money, subs do not. "Most" is certainly defined by roster size.
So on a roster of 22 players at a Virginia Tech or JMU, a couple are on full rides, 8-10 are getting how much? 5-10K? And the other 10 are paying their way? Maybe a few more getting $ and more dollars at a bigger school (i.e. VT in this case).
You can't really generalize from school to school. Some coaches try to give a larger number of kids some money, while others will give a few stars the bulk, parcel out the rest among the next tier, and then nothing for the remainder. And at least from what I've seen, the offers kids get are for percentage of tuition and other costs rather than dollar amounts, and can vary by year. So one kid might be on a 15% scholarship for 4 years, while another is on 25%, 25%, 50%, 50% etc.
