No! Seriously you people don't know how this works and yet you use the service? They are paid a small amount because the assumption is they are going to be tipped by the customer. Same reason you are charged so little -- because the assumption is you will be tipping the driver.

I just checked the last Uber order I placed.  The food was charged $12.  On top of that, there was $2 service fee, $2 delivery fee, and somehow a $2 tip (not sure if it was automatic or I clicked on it not realizing), so 50% in fees.  No way am I adding additional tip to that. [/quote]

Uber gets the service fee and the delivery fee. Just like Domino's -- they SAY, the delivery fee is NOT A TIP.

Besides all that, don't you enjoy tipping? I do. I enjoy knowing I'm contributing something to someone else, and that I can afford it. Sheesh people, come on. Be adults. It's your job to contribute in these ways. It just is.[/quote]

PP does NOT understand. Tipping is optional for Uber Eats. They get paid per delivery using an algorithm based on the time/distance from the restaurant to your house plus a small pickup fee and delivery fee. I average maybe $4-7 per delivery depending on how far it is. However, tips are of course appreciated. We don’t get paid driving from one pickup to another, only per delivery - plus we obviously pay a good amount of out-of-pocket for gas money, wear and tear, etc.

I do this as a side job, as do probably most of your drivers. Either that or they toggle between passengers and food depending on where the pickups are.
