Yes, if I also know them to be a responsible person. It is akin to drinking, in my opinion. Plenty of people who drink “regularly” are responsible.
I would not allow someone who drank daily to watch my child, either. What are they self-medicating so often? —grandchild of an alcoholic grandmother who allowed me to be abused while she got her afternoon G and T on.
I’m not really a drinker, but I know people who have a glass or two of wine each evening because they like the taste or it’s part of the wind down process. I don’t think drinking necessarily = getting drunk.
But doesn’t smoking or vaping pot = getting stoned every time? Why else do it?
I used to do it a lot, although I don’t at all anymore. I liked to do I before bed because it was relaxing and helped me sleep, in the same way that morning coffee is invigorating and helps me wake up. You have no idea how many daily users you know who are holding down professional jobs and raising families; it’s really common.
OP here. This woman isn’t raising a family, isn’t a professional, and hasn’t had a job in years apart from occasional babysitting for us. I have discovered that she uses recreationally in more than just a sleep aid kind of way. What really gives me pause is her casual use of edibles in a setting that I find inappropriate.
So, if she liked a glass of bourbon in dive bars so she could play pool, would you feel the same way? Is she sober when she watches your child? I don’t understand why people (who are likely paying peanuts) feel the need to people they employ for what they do in their spare time!
One glass of bourbon won’t get you FUBAR. Edibles will.
Not necessarily true. It's all in the dose. I eat a 5mg gummy for sleep a few times a week and I'm just relaxed.
Gummies were banned where I live because so many children were eating them assuming they were candy. That’s yet another thing to worry about. Not just if your sitter is stoned, but is she bringing edibles or vape pens into the house where the kids could potentially find them?
