This is really just to make others in my situation feel better :) 20 weeks 1 day and I've gained 15 pounds. 2nd baby. I get super nauseous to the point of needing meds the whole pregnancy and the only thing that calms it (even with the meds) is eating. I excercise about 3-4 times a week and try to eat as healthy as possible but it is what it is. I gained a little over 40 with my first (most of it came off fairly quickly but the last 8 took FOREVER) and REALLY want to keep it 30 or under this time, but apparently that may not happen. Oh well. I wish I was one of those eating all the time who has only gained 5 pounds, but not so! For what it's worth I'm tall so it hides well and I can still fit into a lot of my regular clothes.....
Thank God for this post! I was starting to feel abnormal. I'm not overweight and exercise everyday but I feel like I gained a lot of between 16-20 weeks. I put on about 25 pounds with my first pregnancy but I started out heavier with this one due to fertility treatments. I'm not sure where I'm at now but I serious doubt that is is less than five pounds!
Thank you both! At 20 weeks, I had gained around 14 pounds. This was upsetting to me because I was starting off overweight so being extremely careful about my eating, exercising, etc. One (but only one) of the OBs at my practice said in her experience women don't have much control over how much they gain... she's seen people eat all day and gain very little and people be very careful and gain 40-50 pounds. So, I'm trying not to worry about the numbers. My body will do what it needs to do.
