I can't brag about this IRL, and it's not much to brag about really, but for the past 4+ weeks I've been using a calorie counter and haven't missed a day of logging. It's helped me curtail eating, and I'm losing just about 2 lbs a week - which is right on track, but also feels slow. I have 50 lbs to lose before I'm where I will feel good, and 65'ish to lose to really be where I should. So it's a long road at 2lbs a week. But, today I put on a pair of pants that had gotten too tight and they fit comfortably! So even with this small, barely 9 lb loss, I'm seeing progress. And for the first time ever I've managed to keep up w/ the daily logging and thoughtful/restrained consumption. So I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it and just wanted to crow about it somewhere I felt it would be ok. Thanks for indulging me!
Dp I am on the same journey, my friend! I was wondering have you checked with your doctor on how much you should weigh? The reason I ask is I thought I had to lose more weight but my doctor gave me a higher number. for example, I thought I needed to be 130 but they told me 145. Also, I am tracking too and food is now not as fun or enjoyable. But, this is my life from now on out if I want to be healthy. Have you found the same? Just seeking commiseration, I suppose. So far, I have lost 13 pounds, two every week except last week I lost six pounds which was too much in retrospect. Congratulations though !
NP, but did either you or your doctor base your goal weight number on BMI and, if so, what BMI was the goal? I was listening to a podcast yesterday and the physician recommended calculating the weight that would put your BMI in the middle of the "normal" range and aim for that. Then she said that when you achieve your goal and hit the middle, hold there a while and then decide whether that's the right weight for you. You might decide you you need to go up or down a few pounds to look and feel the way you want to, or you might be in the right place. I have no idea if that's a good approach, but calculated that the middle for me is 135 so that's my goal, for now.
Oh, and congrats on your progress!
