Here are the best showings for VA ECNL clubs: McLean: 1st place in 2 age groups (U15;U18/19); Number of teams in top 5 in age group: 4; Richmond United: 1st place in 2 age groups (U16; U17): Number of teams in top 5: 3; BRYC: 2nd place in 1 age group (U18/19); Number of teams in top 5: 2; VDA: 2nd pace in 1 age group (U14); Number of teams in top 5: 1; Loudoun: 3rd place in 1 age group (U13); Number of teams in top 5: 1.
It is so hard to compare kids teams at the younger ages. For instance, at the U15 age group, McLean has a loss to a team BRYC tied.
Richmond is not in NOva. Anyhow, yes these are kids and results and quality of play will change week to week. Even college teams and pro teams have ups and downs. Anyhow, McLean continues to be the best in ECNL largely due to Nadir and Clyde and a bit of historical brand. That is the long and short of it. BRYC, VDA, and Loudoun are all lumped together with Loudoun suffering from the poorest coaching comparatively and with all three suffering from DA / ECNL player dispersion (I.e. over saturation of “elite” teams).
