I'm thinking of moving ASAP from DC to MD in order to afford to keep trying IVF/IUI. Does anyone know if I would be immediately eligible to switch my insurance/get coverage as soon as I move?
I'm not sure, but a move might be a qualifying "life changing event" https://individual.carefirst.com/individuals-families/health-insurance-basics/what-is-aca/qualifying-life-event.page "You permanently moved into our service area within the last 60 days." Even if you cant get coverage right now, if you live n Maryland during open enrollment in November, you could have insurance in January. I waited to start with Shady Grove until I had my new insurance plan. I didn't actually start stims until April with waiting for appointments and testing and insurance approval. So if your current insurance can cover testing, then you could probably get treatment within a month or two in the new year.
