I understand what OP is saying about using the info to find a solid club. That actually can show proof of a good track record to back up the sales pitch they all sell the parents. Travel soccer is a big investment long term. This actually makes sense and may need some tweaking for privacy. The world of sports is more and more becoming analytics driven and this is a perfect example.
Exactly where is the analytics in a roster? Where anybody's kid plays is really none of our business. There is no inherent right in picking a place to play and train in any particular recreation based on knowledge of the participants.
This is a very transient area. People move in and out and around all of the time. My kids have friends that move in out because parents work for military, world bank, state department, IT, etc. We have not moved, but have been at 3 clubs with kids now U15 and U12. No hard feelings, but left for various reasons, some purely logistical. I am against tracking individual kids by name and I don't even like when people post videos of kids without parents consent on this board. You get one whacky parent at your Club posting a video and then a bunch of strangers weighing in on young kids that didn't sign up for that.
You don't need to stalk them online. Players and families know other top level players and families and they talk. My DD is friends that now play at DA or ECNL clubs NOT hers. They don't have the competition between them like folks on this forum. THIS site is competitive parents mostly. Sad as the kids don't care where their friends play as long as they talk to them and hang out!
In private, amongst their friends, many echo the attitude of their parents.
