I didn't want to start a debate, but fine. It was along the lines of "I wish Jews/Christians/Muslims/Democrats/Republicans/Midwesterners/feds/whatever would just kill themselves". I belong to the group in the group. She does not know (so yeah, it's not race).

And yes, I'm that desperate for friends. I'm so lonely it's killing me.[/quote]I'm sorry you're lonely, OP, that sounds horrible.  But I think your best bet is to start looking for some new friends.  You don't have to drop these people, just start branching out and start including new people in your circle.  However, now that I think of it, there may be other people in this group who would not want you to leave because of this statement and who themselves may not be happy about the statement.  In that case, it would only be fair to say something to the group so people have a chance to decide whether they want to reach out to you or not.  But I can understand if you don't feel able to do that.
