This is not true regarding U.S. citizenship.  The U.S. citizen father would need to submit an affidavit of paternity, proof that he meets the requirements to transmit citizenship (five years of physical presence in the U.S., including two years after the age of 14), and proof of the relationship (they would not need to be married and he would not have to be present in the country when the baby is born).  If there is insufficient proof of the relationship, the father can do a DNA test at an approved clinic to prove paternity.[/quote]
