Winter swim is or at least can be really nice with the right fit. Sure there are swim meets, but the nice thing is your kid should be seeded against kids of similar ability and age. It's not like summer where your clubs best three go up against another clubs best three. if you want to swim a stroke you probably can. At least that is how it worked at our club this winter. I would talk to a club that is near you and talk to some families similar to yoru situation and also talk to coach and see what they say. Just because it is a competative club does not mean there might not also be room for kids that are more developmental or are less intense.[/quote]
