They are also offering to pay a student’s community college tuition in the form of a tuition credit once they transfer to Tech OR take classes this summer for free, but leave for either the fall or spring semester. What happens if they don’t get many takers?
They need to start stressing to these incoming Freshmen how miserable life will be due to overcrowding. I've been in this situation and it is NOT fun. Two person rooms had a third squeezed in; four person suite style rooms had a 5th and sometimes 6th person squeezed in; practically no one got a single unless there was an extreme medical reason. The study rooms that could be reserved for small groups of 8 people were turned into dorm rooms. The larger common rooms that had couches, tables & chairs, and TVs were set up to house students in a barracks style situation. "Desks" (really tables & chairs set up) lined the two of the walls and the bunk beds were clustered in the middle of the room. A third wall was lined with armoires that had to be shared for clothing. Students housed in hotels and bused back to campus. Classes that had fixed seating had chairs brought in and placed wherever they'd fit and you just had to take notes on your lap. You sat on the floor to take a test and used the chair as your desk. Classes that had desks had extras brought in but it never failed that desks would migrate out of the room and you'd end up with a few people having to just sit on the floor. There was always enough food but never enough seating in the dining hall. Getting a student football ticket was nearly impossible as a freshmen because they used a point system and freshmen got the least points at the start.
What college did you attend, PP? Just curious. That sounds awful!
