DCU got rid of DA for boys U12 and U13. MLS plans to abolish DA. There will be no boys DA soon. Arlington does not have DA past U14. The pre- Academy teams are just red teams again. Kids promoted to red from white really did not get a promotion since it is basically the white team...and so on down the line.
Are you saying there will be no boys DA soon at a specific club ? or they are completely going to drop boys DA nationwide ?
It's rumored that MLS clubs will drop DA. After that it's the same old club's top teams which is the same as it was before.
DC United Academy already dropped U12 and U13. The travel clubs were caught off guard and in order to market themselves to attract players they had to call their first team "Pre-Academy". It is still their A teams. There is nothing magical going on. And, as others have pointed out, the kids would probably be better off and get better of more varied competition playing in the some of the other Divisions of EDP. DA is going to be gone. It's being phased out. There is only U13/14 left at Arlington which will be gone the following year. Loudoun no longer has DA. Lesson? Don't worry so much about all this league BS. Find the best training/environment and coach for your kid instead of merely being a 'car magnet' chaser as somebody else called it.
I have a 2008, when we heard there would be no U12 DA at Travel Clubs we declined an offer for such a team. We are happy with our Club and coaching/training and were completely on the fence about DA anyways prior to that decision. Once we found out there was just going to be this 'Pre-Da' stick, it was a no brainer.
