Does anyone know if there are other, non-global options? I’ve been told that they’re licensed for 100 kids. If the school is approximately 600 kids, is it true that <20% of families need before/after care?
Some kids only need am and some kids only need pm and some kids do not go every day.
In my experience (not Beall) there's also attrition in the older elementary grades. A lot fewer 4th and 5th graders in before/aftercare compared to K and 1st. Some kids have older siblings in middle school who are home before school gets out. Some older elementary schoolers are allowed to be home alone for an hour or two after school. Some kids go home with other kids to get to sports practices, etc. In our neighborhood there are quite a few grandparents shuttling kids from school to activities during the week. Au pairs, college-aged babysitters. Families do lots of different combos. I wouldn't think 100 spots is necessarily a problem. The only school I have personally heard of where kids frequently don't get spots at the school-based aftercare is Ashburton. But they have like 900 students, not 600.
