Then it became a big kerfuffle -- people accused the Director of Public Works of lying (his accusation wasn't backed up by police who were there at the time.) . People accused the Town Council of meeting in secret. (They failed to provide correct summaries before and after a closed meeting when dealing with the issue). [/quote]
