You really think that it will be good for OP to not go so that this kid can learn the important life lesson of not inviting adults to things?

This kid sounds like a nice little boy who has gotten attached to a neighborhood mom because he doesn’t have a mother of his own.  I’d say he’s had plenty of life lessons already.[/quote]

This is OP. I haven't decided yet as I haven't been feeling that good (I have hyperemesis) but if I choose not to go it will NOT be to send this message and I will, as others have suggested ask him all about it and continue to remain engaged in his life. Nothing about this is about sending a life lesson! It is just bad timing. [/quote]
