We have consistently found very good (and legal) Nannies in the $16 range for Montgomery county. This was the rate for two kids.
That’s just nuts! How does a grown adult live on that in Montgomery County? Sharing couches to sleep on?
Here’s the thing...MoCo families are cheap. Every single MoCo family I interviewed with wanted to pay a low wage and then expected extra services on top of that. I live in MoCo and didn’t want to commute. However, after seeing how delusional the families were, I stick to DC and just deal with the commute.
+1 McLean too. One first generation family I know demanded the nanny to wear a uniform (not a polo and khakis, but an actual pinstripe nanny uniform with bib), and they would pay her $10/hour for three kids - always extra demands. Including one baby, one infant, plus all the driving and organizing that older kids entail. No paid vacations, no health care, no taxes, nothing. Another family was majorly involved in local big name business ("what is in your wallet") and have many, many children - all with their own nanny, and pay $30/hour. OP, some people are cheap and want something for nothing because they are entitled, but not rich. Some people are loaded and have money to give away. Guess who the nannies want to work for?
