The vendor does not have a compacted curriculum because Math 4/5 is kind of an MCPS specific approach. So...they chose the overall strongest curriculum knowing it would be a year before the curriculum vendor could create a compacted version. Given the timeline, there was just no way to get it into as many K-3 classrooms as possible AND the Math 4 and Math 5 classrooms and roll out compacted simultaneously. It's a shame, and I understand the frustration, but I'd rather they use the current curriculum, warts and all, than rush a compacted version into the classroom that hasn't been prepared correctly.
