in the first round. An admin let it slip in a conversation. We are at a school that is mostly middle class with a 35ish % FARMS. No local level AAP option. About 10 kids went to the center last year from our school. Does this mean most of the kids from our school are usually admitted on appeal?
What's the center school? Is the center really crowded?
OP-sorry, it would out me because my kid was the "one" but I have heard from other parents that the center classes for third grade were really, really small. I don't know about the other grades because dc is my oldest. We are not in a very AAP obsessed part of the county as far as test-prep schools so that probably does decrease scores from our area (because I assume almost all the kids are getting actual taking-the-test-cold scores which are lower compared with other area's higher scores?). Some of my dc's friends had higher test scores (dc was not in the pool) and after hearing from everyone who didn't get in, I just asked the admin point-blank who else was accepted to the center. Not sure if I want to send dc if literally no other child from old school will be there. We do not have any special programs like local level four at our base school. None of dc's friends are appealing.
