Why are UMC white and Asian kids performing so poorly at Yorktown HS compared to similar schools in Fairfax? McLean HS has whites scoring 1861 and Asians at 1960. At Yorktown whites are scoring 1788 and Asians score 1786. That is a tremendous disparity. Is APS really that bad?
Cmon, this has been discussed to death. FCPS has AAP; APS does not. McLean attracts families who either want or aren’t intimidated by AAP. Yorktown attracts families who either don’t care about or are repelled by AAP. McLean attracts more families who prioritize schools over commute. Yorktown attracts more families who prioritize commutes over schools. Etc. Find your own beach and let others find theirs.
Judging by the scores of FCPS vs APS, specifically FCPS schools like Langley and McLean, except for parents in the Washington Lee district there seems to be a lot of parents prioritizing their commute over their kids education.
