A little bit of everything including luck.  A couple of private investments we made that were touch and go during the financial crisis took off in the bull market since then. DH’s career accelerated into prime earnings years as an executive of a decent sized company and he has done very well, we both still drive the same cars we did 10 years ago and generally avoided lifestyle creep (there has been a little but not to much, still use coupons and price shop groceries), and just riding the bull market up in index funds in our 401ks, etc. DH has worked hard to be successful in his career but we both feel like we have been very fortunate and occasionally in the “right place at the right time”
