I'm the PP who reported double digit gains most years, but -5% in 2018. This is largely because our net worth is now much larger than our current income (we're ramping down a bit career-wise and are no longer trying to add much to our asset base) and so investment performance mattered a whole lot more than our relatively negligible savings.
