I know several families walking away from it because of the no play in high school. He let them play this fall and they won't be allowed next year. If you are restricting your kids ability to play in high school and they are not a high caliber team, why would you have them miss out on something they want to take part in? Outside of 1 player most are being fed an unrealistic dream. He has listed an 03 and 04 team but there is only 1 team at that age group.
Who is this ignorant big mouth who seems to think there is only one college bound athlete on the "the" 03/04 team but is not aware that there are actually two separate 03 and 04 teams? My daughter plays there and I guarantee you more than one player will have options to play college.
Me and the schools they are playing at are all schools that high school players are also playing at. So why not play high school as well? Not like they are going to top tier programs which happen to be filled with players who also played in high school.
OK, after reading this like 5 times I think I finally understand you. So...you are talking about the 1999/2000 team that ended its dream run last year. For those who don't know, Coach Ned brought that team up through the OBGC club. OBGC has not been known as the powerhouse of Montgomery county soccer. It's a nice club, but generally not known for consistently producing top teams. So Coach Ned was working with players who i have heard directly from parents on the team were not ECNL material and did not make 1st level and 2nd level teams in Bethesda and Rush. Through hard work by the players and his committed and gifted coaching he crafted that team into the #1 team in their age group in gotsoccer.com in the COUNTRY. Were they really the #1 team in the country or was that an artifact of the ranking system? Coach Ned himself will tell you they were the top team in MD but were not the best in the country. While they won the State cup they lost to other teams in the nationals. Were they better than most ECNL and DA teams? Absolutely and they beat quite a few. How did Ned do that while not playing in ECNL or DA? Did he attract and retain talent with a name brand like Bethesda does? No ....he created the talent. So you are saying not all of these girls made it to top 10 Division 1 schools? What are you smoking? What team in Montgomery County does that? What team anywhere in the country does that? The fact that he got most of the girls to a place where they had options to play on any college team is a testament to his coaching skills. Crawl back to your hole.
