If you ' physically feel better' but get sick more often (I really doubt you 'never got sick previously'), did it occurr to you that it could just be a coincidence? You should ask your dietician or another doctor, not DCUM. You'd better make sure there's nothing else going on. I don't think 1300 cal is too low for you. How many carbs do you eat daily?
This. I know a lot of people who have been very sick in the last 2-3 months. Lots of stuff going around. In my house alone in the last 6 weeks we've had flu (3 out of 4), pink eye (2 of 4), recurring horrible cough/cold (3 of 4), and of course the start of terrible spring allergies (2 of 4). Good times. I am also dieting but it never occurred to me that any of this is related. Of course, out of all of the above, all I've had is the pink eye and a cold/cough I can't kick and am seeing the dr for today. To the extent there is anything diet-related going on, I would suggest taking a multi-vitamin that includes vitamin B6 and vitamin D to make sure you are covering everything, in case you somehow eliminated sources you used to eat. Also, for the insomnia, try exercising. And the crazy weather switches and time change isn't helping. It doesn't sound like you are doing a crazy low-carb or faddish diet. I was told by my endocrinologist - who is very well-respected and frequently recommended around here -- to keep carbs to 90 grams/day and to make sure those came from fruit and vegetables as much as possible, limiting sugar, white flour, and white potatoes. It has worked well for me.
