That's a really low ratio - the state requires 1 staff for every 6 two year olds (and 1 to 3 for under twos), so I'd definitely expect at least $500 per week if not more.
You are right that it's a low ratio (that's a good thing), but the infant ratio is 1 for every 2 under two.
No, in Maryland the ratio is 1 staff for every 3 children. Family child care homes can have up to 8 children, including 2 under 2 with one staff for the 8 children.
That is, 1:3 is the ratio for infants. https://earlychildhood.marylandpublicschools.org/system/files/filedepot/3/staff-child_ratio_chart_-_child_care_centers.pdf
That PDF is for centers. For Family in home daycares we can have a max of 8 children and only 2 of those are children under 2. Some licenses are for max 8 kids with 4 of them infants but you need an extra adult.
I can't find the link anymore but I saved the PDF for my own reference. This is for family care in MD: .03 Child Capacity. A. The number of children present in care at any one time may not exceed the child capacity number stated on the certificate of registration. B. Care may not be provided at any one time to more than two children younger than 2 years old unless approved by the office. C. Whenever more than two children younger than 2 years old are present in care, an additional adult shall be present who has met the applicable requirements of COMAR 13A.15.06.04. D. The maximum total capacity of a family child care home may not exceed eight children, of whom not more than four may be younger than 2 years old. E. The office: (1) Shall count as a child in care a resident who is younger than 6 years old; and (2) May count as a child in care a child who is visiting the home if the child: (a) Is younger than 8 years old and unaccompanied by an adult; or (b) Cannot be sent home immediately. There you go. FWIW, I pay $300 per week for my home care and there are 8 kids!
