What do you do when you go out on dates? You likely hire a sitter so why can't you do that and go on the hikes? At the very least, it would give you a well-deserved break from single motherhood.

Because I don't want to waste the money on a sitter or the time away from my child for a maybe sorta chance there might be someone interesting there to chat with.  A lot of volunteer/hiking things tend to have way more women and the aforementioned insecure 40 yr old guys who still think they are going to get a 25 yr old...[/quote]
