If you decide to hold your kid back, for goodness sakes, live with your choices and don't complain that your kid isn't challenged. Perhaps if you had sent your kid on time, yes, even if you thought socially he might not be ready, or he's so small, your kid wouldn't need more challenge in school. BTW, both my summer kids went on time (one's birthday is just two weeks before the cutoff), and they are both almost the smallest in their entire grade. Yes, there were some social challenges. Yes, they are not very athletic. Yes, they don't like being the smallest in their grade. But, academically, they are fine. One is sufficiently challenged, the other is still bored (hopefully soon to be not so bored entering into a magnet program).[/quote]
