At ITS, hoping to trade up to MV P St.
Not sure how that is moving up, but good luck.
I am not either but DH wants the Spanish.
NP. Then why say moving up? No dog in fight, but we’ve had 3 friends leave a good school for MV and all 3 have regretted it.
I guess because it is "up" in his view. I am kinda not into it. Sometimes the spousal agreement is the hardest part of the lottery.
+1 on spousal agreement! Not to derail the thread but managing expectations around child's education can be equally hard as money issues, domestic chores, etc! re: lottery, we are also at ITS and staying put. Our kid is happy, healthy and enjoys going to school. I think I've finally figured out that that combo (happy, healthy, enjoyment) is the greenest grass. It happens in lots of different schools, and lots of different scenarios, and if you get there with your kid enjoy that ride as long as it lasts!
PP, how do you feel about the middle school and what happens for high school if you don't get into an application school?
I like where the middle school is headed, and feel confident about the middle school principal. As long as the educational approach and class size continues to work for child, we'll stay put through 8th. High school seems like another inflection point, no matter where you are in the city. There appears to be lots of ITS support in helping kids find high schools that work for them. Past classes have had students accepted at a wide range of schools, including competitive application schools. We're also financially able to consider private (although at HS, this is a whole 'nother ball of wax!). At this point, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. At risk of getting pummeled on this forum for saying this, our family has backed away from the constant obsession over getting all the school stuff lined up, once and for all. School "choice" makes it feel like you have the option, and responsibility, to craft the perfect educational experience for your child. But the reality is that this is about "chance" not choice, "perfect" for child changes ALL THE TIME, and there are just too many variables over the course of a PS3-12 education path to be able to nail everything down at any given point. So, since we're happy now, the discussion is tabled.
