It’s well known that dogs are ‘unclean’ within Islamic culture. I have a good friend that is Pakistani Muslim, they do own a dog but they keep him in the unfinished basement, he’s not allowed anywhere else in the house. Recently,Iran just banned dogs from being walked in public and from riding in cars. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-47041611 According to the Islam QandA site it is forbidden in the religion if it’s not kept outside for farm/hunting/protection. https://www.google.com/amp/s/islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/69840 “Conclusion: It is not permissible to keep dogs except for hunting or guarding livestock and crops, and it is permissible to keep them for guarding houses so long as that is outside the city and that there is no other means of guarding the house. The Muslim should not imitate the kuffaar by running with the dog or touching its mouth and kissing it, which causes many diseases.”
Islam Qa is a salafi site. To me that’s made-up Islam. Like strict conservative evangelical Christians vs. mainline Christian denominations. Follow one of the four mainstream schools of thought in Islam, if you are Sunni. Iran is Shia, so I have little knowledge of what they believe.
