We don't have them on our cars because I drive too fast and DH's is definitely downscale. My marketing sense (not an expert) is we wouldn't attract paying parents of bright children. I notice more stickers in Montgomery Cty than I do in DC, and more Catholic (and L for Landon) than Big 3 and others. I guess I never thought a GDS or Holton Arms, or a purple G or SJC, was snobby. Just free advertising for a school they are proud to be part of. For awhile I couldn't figure out what AHC (Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington) meant. I googled the initials while stopped behind a nice SUV and my iPhone popped up American Horse Council. For a few weeks I though AHC meant the driver loves horses.
Hah. You nailed it. And the reason why so many Montgomery Cty cars have stickers is the social climbing thing.
Oh give me a break. I have three kids in three different schools (1 public and 2 private) and I have stickers for all three - the kids love them. Definitely a community thing, not a social climbing thing. (Yeah, my minivan is soooo cool). DH doesn't have any stickers, since I am the family bus driver and the kids are usually in my car. BTW - grew up in upper NW DC and I know from social climbing, trust me. Where I live (Kensington) is way more laid back than upper NW.
