Girls were taught it was their responsibility to deal with boys' misbehavior. Girls were told "they just have a crush on you" so you know, it shouldn't bother them that they were taking their belongings, grabbing their stuff and taunting them. And the message boys got was that they didn't have to be responsible for their own behavior. It wasn't about crushes, it was about power.
