Everyone here doing these gimmick diets is going to gain back all the lost weight within the next couple of years. Just so you know.
IF is how I eat now, it's not a gimmicky diet. Nobody needs to eat all day. It's actually better for you to not eat for a long period of time and give your digestion system a break. Do some research…..
Give it a "break" from what, exactly? Does it wear out sooner like a conveyor belt if you don't put it on standby? I'd be interested in your peer-reviewed trials demonstrating that the human stomach, pancreas, intestines, etc. are optimized by being idle the large majority of the time. I've searched and haven't located any.
I like intermittent fasting. Eating at work is a pain. Literally, if I eat the wrong thing it hurts my stomach. It is just easier to fast unless I'm really hungry (then I go eat ... maybe 1-2x month at work). I do feel like it give my stomach a break, and me. Hey, but that's me, I'm not a peer-reviewed trial. The problem with getting a peer-reviewed study is that all people are different, and people aren't always fully honest about what they eat. Now, there are studies with rats or other mammals, and we can extrapolate to humans, but I don't think the rats can tell us they feel better or not. There is evidence that fasting encourages autophagy, which is a good thing.
