I've been to the Umaid Bhavan Palace - security is insane.  There is a museum portion that is open to the public, but the main building where the Taj hotel is located is off-limits unless you're a hotel guest.  You can't even go for dinner or drinks.  Many Taj hotels implemented this policy after the terrorist attack on the Taj Mumbai ten years ago.

It's an incredible, stunning place for a wedding and I think if the royals decided to attend, they'd be safer there than most places. I've been going to India yearly for 20 years (DH is from there) and Rajasthan is magical.

I was going to say... the royal family of Jodhpur lives in one of the wings at Umaid Bhawan. You can’t even  get close to the property without  going through security checks (especially after 2008). Of all wedding venues, this is one of the easier ones to secure, no doubt.[/quote]
