If you are having to post here to figure out how to talk to your "friend" I have my doubts she is your friend, and especially doubt that you are her friend... The problem here is you are treating this like something other than a simple thing. Your bathroom probably doesnt smell great after YOU have used it. Would you want people to smell your ass fumes and say it was "gagworthy"? Im guessing no. And if you didnt smell it because you dealt it, well, wouldn't you rather know? "If the conversation gets that far.." What does that even mean? You might mention the catbox and then all convo thereafter will cease? How often have you even been over there? How long has she had cats? This sounds like you have not known her very long.
You are psycho
Nah. It just isnt clear why she is treating this like a complex problem. If it smells that bad, she can just say so if in fact she is a friend. In front of anyone I would define as a friend, I would not feel it necessary hide that I smelled something that was making me gag. I have a very sensitive sense of smell, so I take it pretty seriously if I read "gagworthy" and I think its pretty weird to just sit and take it for hours on end and pretend it isnt happening. It just doesnt make sense. If its someone I did NOT know well I would probably bear it depending on why I needed to be there, and then excuse myself as soon as possible, and probably avoid returning if at all possible.
