Too bad Jefferson doesn’t have the Math and Science program anymore. That was many years ago, but the program had algebra in 7th grade. A company adopted the school and added to the science.
I have little patience for nostalgia when it comes to DC schools. To set the record straight about what's going on today: Jefferson does offer and advanced math path through middle school. Depending on the number of students coming in qualifying, it's a combo of self-contained advanced tracks or joining the higher grade-level, then finishing out 8th in a self-contained program. No complaints about the science curriculum either. Yes, there is always more that could be done in science but what I'm seeing there is rigorous with enough hands-on applications built in.
