Well that got nasty fast. I’m an outsider on these boards, and I’ve yet to view the game. We’re just not as good. We Americans like to think of ourselves as the best. It’s verified by some sports we excel in. In soccer, we just cannot believe ‘we’ are so bad. Im a former soccer player, and my young kids play now. My friend’s teen son is a really talented player. I feel bad for him because he has soccer dreams. I’m happy he loves it and is a great player. So are a lot of kids. It’s competitive and *we as Americans can’t figure out why our “awesome” kids who are fighting tooth and nail aren’t going to be guaranteed succes at the international level.* See ** phrase above. It’s just not guaranteed. We are not entitled just because our kids and the USMNT work hard.
It's not a matter of entitlement. The US has a team, that at least on paper, should be competitive. People love to try to justify, rationalize, or read into things way too much, so naturally, they played badly because of pay to play, not because they don't have a real coach yet, and have never played together. All these players are pretty good for their club teams, and should be playing better as a team. Don't need to read into it more than that..
