I was friends with Brittany for most of the last 20 years of her life & there are a lot of us (including her father & half siblings) who are still trying to find out what really happened. The news is that she had some flu / pneumonia symptoms and perhaps died from medication overdose, or just the viruses themselves. 
But what was questionable?

What was questionable about her death was that they didn’t get her help in time:

Murphy's death was "accidental but preventable," Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter stated at the time. "She had been sick for at least two weeks. Had they taken her to a doctor or a hospital, it would have been treatable."
