Hogan lied in that interview. I called his office and talked about the impact of the Muslim ban on my household as a Maryland constituent and his staff dismissed me. I’m sure many other Marylands called as well so for him to say that it didn’t affect Marylanders is a lie. Also, some may remember that he was sued for removing comments asking him to speak out on the Muslim ban from his public Facebook page (ie suppressing free speech) and lost the lawsuit and was told he had to allow a diversity of viewpoints on his website. But if you want to ignore his stance on social issues and call him “practically a Democrat”, you’ve got some serious cognitive dissonance going on.
+1 Hogan lost my vote when he refused to speak out against Trump on the Muslim ban. The Republican Governor in Massachusetts did speak out. A lot of Republican Congresspeople spoke out against bigotry too. But not Hogan. Marylanders who are frustrated with Trump policies need to look in their own backyards about the messages being sent by their elected officials.
