Tightlining upper lids. Microfiber hair towel. Various skin care things I was clueless about. That I should not wear capri pants. But most of all that I have normal kids, a great DH, and a pretty functional extended family. The insights into the personal hell of so many posters is eye opening.
What is the deal with tightening upper lids?
Not the PP, but I was taught how to do this by a makeup artist at Nordstrom at 15 years old and I have done it every day since then. I am almost 34 and swear I could do it in the back of a moving car without a mirror at this point. The technique itself it really just pushing liner up into your lashes from the bottom up, in between the lashes. You can use a pencil, but I am a powder and brush kinda gal and find it easier and a cleaner line, so here is what I do! You get a brush like this (or pencil, but see above) https://www.lauramercier.com/eye-and-brow-brushes/flat-eye-liner-brush-prod220093.html You wet it with some water and dip into a cake liner, like this one below. A solid black eyeshadow will also work. Really swirl it around. The wetter your brush, the more intense your pigment and liner. I go for it! https://www.sephora.com/product/tightline-cake-eye-liner-P285323 Then you push the flat liner brush in between your lashes. I also frequently hold it stationary and blink my lashes onto it. It's really easy. This video is a bit long, but this is basically it. She does make a good point about tightlinging versus hitting the lashline. It mostly makes your lashes look thick. Bonus- it lasts and doesn't smudge AT ALL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTt-oecBDX8 I am fair, blonde haired, and blue eyed. People are shocked I wear black eyeliner everyday. However, applied in this way, it is really not harsh, I swear. Give it a try!
Meat to say doesn't hit the waterline. It DOES line the lashline. Also, some people have expressed concern this could be bad for eyes. As I said below, I have been doing this 18 years and am not neurotic about sanitizing and have never had an issue. If you are worried, you can make sure to always wash your brushes and can put a few drops of alcohol into a cake liner or powdered shadow and let dry overnight, It will sanitize it and dry normally.
