I have had other departments cancel only 2x in recent memory, but once they actually were able to get us in earlier (we had scheduled something with a doctor with a long wait and then the cancellation call came and they moved us up in the calendar, not back) and the other time we were rescheduled for the same week (not ideal for our work schedules, but we didn't lose our "spot" with respect to needing to see the doctor in a certain amount of time).
