433 graduated last night. This college destination info is all self reported so there are kids that didn't list their colleges probably for privacy reasons since the TJ Today senior issue does identify by name the kids going to each college/university. I know several kids who are going to UVA but are not on the list so at least 75 are going to UVA. Considering that this was the toughest year ever to get into competitive colleges, the list is pretty impressive. In the halls of TJ, many considered this 2018 class stronger than last year's class.
I know a couple of WM left off. And I agree. The names aren’t listed here, but they are available online once the senior edition goes live. Considering how much people pickover and analyze the TJ admissions list, I’m not surprised some kids opted against having their names and school listed, especially if they are the only TJ kid admitted. Interesting to see that several kids were listed as “their school (following a gap year)”. I really like the idea of a gap year for my DC after she graduates next year, especially if the College and Career Center could help hher find an internship in her area of interest. It has been a real grind, and I would love her to be able to take an academic break and do something different before headingre back to school for another 4 years. Congrats to the Class of 2018! No doubt they are very smart and hardworking. But the TJ upperclassman impress me every year with how kind they are to underclassmen. Class of 2018 is a really, really nice group of kids. And I loved their 95 Theses on the way out the door.
Where do you find the 95 theses?
If you are a TJ parent, the class of 2018 posted them on the class of 2020 FB Page. I would assume they are on the class of 2019 and class of 2021 FB pages as well. I did not see them on the parents page. Ask your kid, they will have a copy. DC said the seniors started at the front door on the dome and pasted thousands of copies all over the school. When Dr. B went started chasing them around and ordering them to stop (because heaven help that woman unclench and have a sense of humor), they got into her office and flooded it too. Class of 2018? Like all the other students in the school, not a fan of Dr. B. But they were awesome. Most of the seniors contributed, and they did a great job. Everything that is frustrating or annoying about the school and the new administration. DD came home and was reading them to me, and we were both like— This! If you are not a parent, IDK how you get a copy. But, you probably don’t care about them teaching intro bio out of the AP textbook, or no longer allowing music students to eat in the band room, or the screwy TJ math 3,4,5 sequence.
