These students armed with their fake diplomas will get crappy jobs and have zero work ethic becasue they won’t prioritize showing up to work. Rewarding bad behavior won’t help these young ADULTS. Forcing them to repeat the grade or pursue some other alternative offers one more chance to teach them to care before all is lost. Grosso is a disaster. He better lose the next time around.
I'm torn on this one. Having a child with special needs, who barely graduated from high school in a system that was find to push him out with a worthless certificate of attendance, I know that without a HS diploma, there is no chance of full time work with health insurance and paid sick leave. Even with the HS diploma, the available work pays crap, but at least there is some work that is available. If even a handful of the people that graduate because of this are able to get jobs, then it helps some people. And, who is hurt by it? Certainly not the kids who aren't successful even after graduating without meeting requirements because they would likely not have stayed in school for another year to get a "legitimate" diploma.
