DP. I think the pp was referring to kids taking Algebra and Geometry in MS. While they don't NEED to pass the SOLs in middle school, I think it makes sense to pass those SOLs and get rid of the HS graduation verified credit requirements since Algebra 2 is harder (for many kids) than those two classes. For kids starting HS this fall, there is only one verified math credit required for and advanced diploma, so passing one is sufficient. While your bolded language is technically correct, it doesn't provide a comprehensive picture of why it might make sense to give more weight to some SOLs in MS. I don't know where pp got her information about geography.
You're being charitable to the ignorant twit. Of course, it makes sense for ANY student taking a class for a verified credit to pass the SOL for that class WHENEVER they take that class. But, that's not what the ignorant twit asserted repeatedly. She insists that students must pass MS math and geography SOLs. Algebra and Geometry are NOT MS math classes. They are HS math classes that some math advanced students take in MS. Geography isn't even offered in MS, nor do students have to pass a Geography SOL to graduate. There are a number of Social Studies courses that fulfill the graduation requirements. https://insys.fcps.edu/CourseCatOnline/#/reportPanel/1041/13/0/0/0/1
