OP here. I haven't seen any of the "awful parent" or "aszhole coach" phenomenon yet. Maybe my kid is still too young for that? Nor have I seen any "laxbro" behavior - but again maybe that starts up in middle school or high school? The kids on the 5th grade team seem like a nice group of boys. Should I expect the MadLax coach, parents, and team to be a lot different? More "competitive" (or obnoxious, if you prefer)?
Don't believe people on this board. There are a few idiot parents on every team, but it's by far the minority. The same is true with virtually all travel sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, even swimming has this type). Same with the "lax bro" stereotype. There are for sure some kids in that category, but the vast majority are nice kids who happen to enjoy playing lacrosse. Your kid isn't going to transform into a stereotype just because he likes the game and plays for a club team.
