Hi, can some one please help me understand this whole AAP process. I have made an appointment with the teacher but they reefer me to the school website which has so much information that is driving me crazy. I don not know how and where to start? My daughter is in 2nd grade and she took the test in 10/2017 and scored 117. Is it a good score? She did not get in or even got a recommendation for the pool. They said we can apeal it but there was a lot going on at that time and we just couldnt. Can we do something about this now? Can someone post a sample of portfolio of their kids who had done an appeal? I think my daughter is very smart but she was under a lot of stress when she took the exam. She did really good in nonverbal (91%), in quantative (77%) and verbal (83%). I really want her to be able to get accepted for the 3rd grade and i know that she can do it if we work on her a little. Can anyone guide us how can we assist her? Please help. We are very new to this education system. I know that my daughter has a lot of potential but she needs to be guided. Thank you in advance.
AAP admission is dependent on many criteria 1. Cogat/NNAT above 132 (cut-off) 2. GBRS 12+ 3. optionally IQ test like WISC results. Due to low Cogat score your DC did not make it to in-pool referral (cut-off 132) , i.e. school refers your DC.You could have parent refer, had you submit the application by Jan 12th 2018. If you got rejection letter then you have time to appeal before May 11th or so. In this case only alternative open for your DC is to take a WISC (take it at GMU) and hope to get 130+ score. you can appeal using that score plus work samples. In addition factor that will decide your DC admittance to AAP is GBRS score. Do you know what is your DC NNAT and GBRS score?
