Can I suggest something new to learn over 50, especially for people who learned or are interested in kayaking - try rowing! There are multiple learn to row programs in the area, it’s fabulous exercise, gets you out in nature, and makes you feel like a bad ass. I picked it back up mid forties after 30 years off the water.
Another old rower here. I rowed for a year in college in the 70s and decided to try it again in my 50s and took a learn to row class. This is a great way to exercise for old people - none of the twisting or pounding you find in other sports. Plus I get to hang out with people from a wide range of ages. So worth the time!
