I’m not 50 yet but reading this forum I have learned the following things so far: 1. Take care of your health -get physical, dental, resolve those minor issues or elective surgery you have been putting off as it takes body longer to heal older you get. 2. Start eating healthy and exercise routine to keep off weight 3. If you have been thinking about leaving your partner/ get a new partner do it now while you are still looking relatively youthful 4. Do that safari or other active travel you have been putting off. Cruises can wait 5. Start looking at your finances and where you might want to live for the next 30 years in active retirement and beyond
Yup. I'm im my 60s. Get rid of too much weight now, BUT, don't obsess about it too much. Accept what you are physically because one day you'll look back on a photo and smile...you look great, really. I'm seconding the finances. There are a shit ton of things YOU DON'T NEED. Money is freedom from when you are ready. Being ready is important. My friends are unhappy working in jobs they wish they could leave. Even if you are great at your job, love it, etc., the world perceives you differently from 55 on...and really at 60. Your job isn't your life. Your friends and family are.
